Blake Lively, star of The Town, A Simple Favour and The Rhythm Section, will produce and act in adaptation of Joëlle Jones, Jamie S. Rich and Laura Allred’s Dark Horse Comic Lady Killer. The comic, which has been published by Dark Horse since January 2015 and was nominated for Best Limited Series Eisner award in 2016, will adapted by Diablo Cody, the Academy Award winning screenwriter of Juno and Jennifer’s Body.
By all appearances, Josie Schuller is the perfect 1950's housewife. But when she's not catering to the needs of her family, she leads a secret life as a highly-trained killer for hire.
Lively will co-produce with her partner in production company B For Effort, Kate Vorhoff with Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg of Dark Horse Entertainment.
The film is the next project in Dark Horse Entertainment’s first-look deal with Netflix, which has already yielded The Umbrella Academy series and Polar directed by Jonas Åkerlund. Up next is an adaptation of Mystery Girl, directed by McG and starring Tiffany Haddish.
No word yet on who will direct Lady Killer, but we’ll keep you posted on the film as it develops.
