Jim Mickle is in line to direct an adaptation of Donny Cates’ and Geoff Shaw’s God Country. As detailed in The Hollywood Reporter, Legendary Entertainment and AfterShock Media will produce the film, along with Jim Mickle. Lee Kramer and Jon Kramer will be representing AfterShock Media as producer’s on the film.
The popular Image Comics series adaptation was first announced in 2018. Cates will write the screenplay. Mickle has previously show-run adaptations of comic book series, most recently with Sweet Tooth and co-adapting Sundance TV’s Hap and Leonard. He has also directed several feature films, including Stakeland, Cold In July and In The Shadow of The Moon.
Cates will take over The Immortal Hulk title for Marvel beginning in November. There’s no release date as yet for God Country, but we’ll have more as it develops.
