This December, artist Jock will return to Gotham to both write and pencil Batman: One Dark Knight. This three-issue, prestige format mini-series will bring the three-time New York Times best-selling artist’s unique, dynamic style to blacked-out Gotham.
Beginning with the GCPD transporting super-villain EMP (Electro-Magnetic Pulse) to Blackgate, escorted by the Batman. But during a blackout, the transport goes awry, leaving Batman and EMP trapped on the wrong side of the city. With EMP looking to betray Batman at every turn, the stage is set for an exciting, tense ride through Gotham.
Jock had this to say about the announcement: “I think most readers know how much I love drawing Batman, so I was thrilled by the prospect of marrying the visual take with my own storyline for Batman: One Dark Knight, I wanted to tell a propulsive, tight action tale, set over one typical night in Gotham City; except when a blackout strikes it’s a night that goes very, very wrong for Batman. I can’t wait to share more with everyone soon!" Jock thanked his fans yesterday on Twitter for their support of the project, which the artist said began years ago during a conversation with Mark Doyle in a Chicago bar, adding that this was a passion project for him. Jock has already made an incredible impact on Batman, drawing Scott Snyder’s run on Detective Comics, The Black Mirror as well as other runs on the character.
Each of the three issues will be a 48-Page Prestige Format book from DC’s Black Label imprint. The first issue arrives 7th December in the US and 8th December in the UK. You can add Batman: One Dark Knight to your pull list at Gosh Comics or at your local comic shop.
