The series arrives before Terrific’s big-screen debut in Superman!

2025 will be a ‘Terrific’ year for Michael Holt. Not only does the man also known as Mr. Terrific take his big-screen bow courtesy of Edi Gathegi , he’ll be getting his first solo series since The New 52 era!
As the title suggests, the book will revisit the history of Michael Holt: genius inventor and Olympic champion. What were the events that led him to become a superhero?
Mr. Terrific: Year One is brought to us by Al Letson, the investigative journalist and host of the radio show ‘Reveal’. Together with artists Valentine De Landro and Edwin Galmon, who‘ll be providing additional art for the series, working on present-day sequences which will be integral to the story. The series will be coloured by Marissa Louise and lettered by Lucas Gattoni.

Michale Holt’s life was destined for greatness. But that life came to a screeching halt when his wife, Paula, and unborn son were killed in a car accident. The Holts once shared ambitious dreams of using their technology to help others, but after the tragedy, Michael retreats from society, selling Holt Industries to mysterious and craven tech billionaire Athena Prescott. Surrendering his dream sets off an explosive chain of events, taking the exceptionally intelligent Holt from the depths of despair to the heights of heroism as Mr. Terrific. The comic will turn the clock back to the beginning of Michael Holt's career as a hero, and particularly his tragic origin story which will be "dramatically revisited and expanded," according to DC.
“Valentine and I are diving deep and telling the origin story of who Mr. Terrific is as a man, and as a super hero,” said Letson. “I’ve loved Valentine’s work for years, and working on this series has been a dream. I can’t wait for fans to see what we’re cooking up.”
“Working with Al, Marissa, Edwin, and Lucas, as well as the DC editorial team, has been an absolute blast,” added artist Valentine De Landro. “I’m excited to contribute to Mr. Terrific’s story, a character I’ve enjoyed reading throughout the years.”
Al Letson is a Peabody Award-Winning Journalist and TV host who made his comics debut in 2017’s DC New Talent Showcase. Valentine De Landro co-created Bitch Planet with Kelly Sue Deconnick at Image, and drew Infinite Frontier and Black Manta for DC. Edwin Galmon has drawn Cyborg for the publisher.
