Get your pre-orders in: the hit series Saga returns from Image comics in early 2022! During the ‘In Conversation with Brian K. Vaughn’ panel at NYCC today, the writer announced the incredibly successful series will return after its long hiatus for a 54-issue arc. The first issue will land on 26th January 2022. The first new issue will be #55 and it will be a double-length, 44-page issue. What’s even better is that the issue will be available at Saga’s regular price of $2.99 (around £2.60 in the UK). There will be no variant covers or gimmicky renumbering, promised Image Comics’ press release.
Vaughn had this to say about the series’ next arc: "Other than my own family, collaborating with Fiona Staples on Saga is the most important thing in my life, so I can't thank readers and retailers enough for their patience. I think our next 54 issues will be even more shocking, strange, and spectacular than the first 54, so we can't wait to be back on the shelves at your local comic shop soon."
Staples also enthused: "I've really missed connecting with readers through the pages of Saga, so I'm thrilled to roll up my sleeves and dive into this world again. The next arc is already going places I never imagined. I'm so grateful that we're able to keep doing this!"
Saga has proved to be an enduring series and hit, having been translated into 20 languages and sold seven million copies when accounting for single issues, trades, hardcovers and digital comics. All this and the winner of several Eisner’s, Harvey’s and a Hugo award, Saga will no doubt set record numbers on its return. About the return, Image Publisher Eric Stephenson said: "Saga launched at Image during the company’s 20th anniversary in 2012, so it seems more than fitting that the series is returning to shops just in time for our 30th anniversary next year. I can think of few better ways to celebrate what Image is all about than by welcoming back one of the most incredible storytelling teams in comics history as they embark on the second half of a true epic-in-the-making."
