Boom! Studios has announced House of Slaughter, a new ongoing series set in the world of it’s hit comic, the Eisner-nominated Something is Killing The Children. The new book will be co-written by James Tynion, who created the original series and Tate Bombal (Barbalien). Werther Dell‘Edera and Chris Shehan will illustrate the book with colours by Miquel Muerto and letters by AndWorld Design.
Something is Killing The Children has been a horror hit and Slaughter looks set to follow in it’s footsteps, as it takes readers behind the scenes, into the inner-workings of the order that forged monster-hunter Erica Slaughter. It arrives in October 2021.
House of Slaughter shifts the focus from Erica to Aaron Slaughter, the teenager who will one day become Erica’s handler. Here, he’s in training, trying to survive the House’s brutal schooling. Things become more complicated for the teen who will one day don the black mask when he falls for a mysterious boy who is destined to be his competition.
Speaking about the new series, Tynion said: “Ever since our first glimpse of the House of Slaughter in Something is Killing the Children #5, I knew that there was an entire world of monsters and monster hunters outside of Erica Slaughter’s story. And once the book grew into the juggernaut of a series it’s become, thanks to all of our incredible fans, I knew I wanted to start telling those stories.” Of his co-creators, Tynion states: “I’m so honored to have the incredible Tate Brombal and the phenomenal Chis Shehan joining us to tell this exciting new story introducing everyone to the hunters Erica grew up alongside, and the other Houses within the Order of St. George, while Werther and I start plotting out Erica’s next adventure!”
The first issue will feauture a main cover by series artists Dell’Edera and Shehan, as well as variant cover art by acclaimed illustrators Alvaro Martinez Bueno (The Nice House on the Lake), Jenny Frison and Mike Del Mundo. Series artist Werther Dell’Edera said: “It’s been an incredible experience illustrating and building the world of Something is Killing the Children with James, and I can’t wait for fans to see what terrifying new horrors await in this new series—but readers, beware! There’s a very strong chance that things only get more terrifying, the deeper you go . . . into the House of Slaughter!”
