One of the most exciting announcements to come out of Comic-Con was the news that Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee were returning to the scene of their runaway Batman hit, Hush. He was first introduced in Batman #608-#619, back in 2002 and has proved to be one of the better, more enticing villains of the modern bat canon.

Until now, the two creators responsible for unleashing him had not chosen to carry on their good work with Tommy Elliot. That’s not to say great work hadn’t been done on the character. A.J. Lieberman did an incredible job in Gotham Knights with the long-running Return of Hush storyline, which brought new shades to the villain. If you’ve not read it and are feeling flush, I highly recommend picking up the recently published Hush Omnibus, which reprints the story for the first time in years!

But sooner or later, the original creators feel the lure of their best creations… and the very busy Jim Lee (he runs DC Comics) has re-teamed with the equally busy Jeph Loeb (he does a lot of TV) to bring Hush back to Gotham with Hush 2 (stylised as H2SH on the book’s covers).

Like the original, Hush 2 will run in the main Batman book, starting with #158 and ending with #163. It’s a treat having the originators of Hush back on the character, especially considering their full schedules. Seeing Lee making sequential work again will be pretty incredible – just take a look at the preview of some of his early, uncoloured pages!

Hush 2 will also feature other members of the original creative team: inker Scott Williams, colourist Alex Sinclair and letterer Richard Starkings.

DC has also revealed a ton of covers for the series, with Lee providing several himself, as well as others by J. Scott CampbellGabriele Dell’ottoDan MoraLee BermejoSimone Di Meo, Tony S. Daniel and Sean Gordon Murphy. Not only that, but DC are also doing preview variants leading up to Batman #158’s release and tie-variants across various Batman-related titles.
