For the last few weeks, there have been rumours abound that Jonathan Hickman was sticking around at Marvel after his X-tenure ended. Not only that, but he would be working with superstar artist Chris Bachalo. Initial whispers hinted that the duo would be taking over duties on Amazing Spider-Man after the Beyond Board finished their run - a rumour that was dispelled when Zeb Wells and legendary returning artist John Romita, Jr.

Now Marvel - via Newsarama - has revealed just what Hickman and Bachalo will be working on: the next title in the Black, White & Blood series, this time featuring the fist of Khonshu himself, Moon Knight!

The anthology title will include stories by Hickman & Bachalo, Marc Guggenheim & Jorge Fornés and in an exciting development, will mark the Marvel debut of Nigerian writer Murewa Ayodele and artist Dotun Akanda, whose work has never been seen in the US before. Bill Sienkiewicz will provide at least one cover for the series.

The book, launching its four-issue run in April, promises to explore the dark side of the Fist of Khonshu - and introduce us to a new Moon Knight - although not Hunter’s Moon, introduced in the current run of the comic series. The new Moon Knight will be introduced in Hickman and Bachalo’s future-set story.

Moon Knight: Black, White & Blood is the latest in Marvel’s colour tinted line of comics, joining Wolverine, Carnage, Deadpool, and the currently running Elektra. You can get our low-down on the treasury edition of Wolverine: Black White & Blood right here.

News of the comics’ launch comes hot on the heels of the trailer, poster and release date for Marvel’s Moon Knight tv series, which we reported yesterday.

The first issue of Moon Knight: Black, White & Blood drops in April. Marvel will reveal the full date in its April solicits. It is worth noting that although this is Hickman’s next project, it may not be the ‘big’ project that’s been hinted at.
