One of the most prolific writers in comics signs an exclusive deal with Image.

Jeff Lemire has today announced that he has signed an exclusive deal with Image Comics, making the publisher his home for all future projects from 2022 and beyond.
Lemire has made forays into the world of the big two, with major runs at DC and Marvel as well as several Black Label titles. But for the most part, Lemire’s prolific career has been divided between Dark Horse (home to his Golden Age Superhero universe, Black Hammer) and his new home at Image Comics. So far, at Image, he has created Descender and Ascender with Dustin Nguyen, Gideon Falls and Primordial with Andrea Sorrentino, A.D.: After Death with Scott Snyder, Family Tree with Phil Hester, Plutona with Emi Lenox, and his solo project Royal City.
As part of his deal, he will re-team with Nugyen for the upcoming Little Monsters in March and then with Sorrentino on The Bone Orchard Mythos of shared horror universe titles. More titles are yet to be announced, but they will involve some solo books which he will write and pencil as well as collaborations with artists new to Image.
Talking about the deal, Lemire had this to say: “Having worked with Image on so many projects over the last decade, I’ve come to appreciate the complete creative freedom and support that they’ve provided me. I’m excited to make Image the exclusive home for all my projects in the years to come, both solo projects that I will draw myself, and my various collaborations. Bone Orchard and Little Monsters are just the start of what I have planned this year and beyond.”
Lemire has received critical acclaim for the Vertigo Comic Sweet Tooth (which was adapted for a Netflix series), Trillium, Essex County, The Underwater Welder, Black Hammer, and more. Essex County is also being developed for an adaptation with CBC, with Underwater Welder at Waypoint Entertainment and Ryan Gosling attached as producer. Snow Angel, which Lemire co-created with artist Jock is also in the works with AMC. Gideon Falls has found its place at Hivemind, Descender is with Lark and NBC Universal, and Family Tree with Orion, meaning Lemire is one of the most in-demand comic creators in Hollywood right now.
