Whilst we still have a couple of months to wait before the newly minted Amazing Spider-Man spins its web, Marvel has dropped a four-page preview of the first issue!
The book will be a collaboration between Joe Kelly (currently showcasing his spider credentials on The 8 Deaths of Spider-Man event), Pepe Larraz and the legendary John Romita, Jr, along with colour-artist Marte Garcia and returning letterer VC’s Joe Cramagna. We’ll join Peter Parker as he’s going through some major life changes: a new job, new romance… new supervillains. Well, he is Spider-Man, after all!
We’ve already given you a look at some of the variant covers for the book, but now we’ve got an action-stuffed preview, showcasing a battle between Spidey and one of his classic foes, the Sinister Sixer, Rhino! But this clash is different… because Rhino is Different. This rampage will have a tragic end, sending Peter into a dangerous conspiracy.
Because somebody has been ‘Amping Up’ Spidey’s villains, making sure they’re meaner, more aggressive and increasingly dangerous to everyone they come into contact with…And Peter is next! It’s going to be a busy year for Spidey, what with this and taking on a Predator in the mini-series Predator Vs. Spider-Man, which launches a couple of weeks after ASM!
Larraz can’t contain his excitement at working on this new phase of Spider-Man and it shows in the artwork: "Spider-Man was probably the first Marvel comic I read when I was a kid," Larraz said. "It is a privilege for me to be able to draw this character, even more so that it's guided by Joe Kelly's hand. I'm a huge fan of Joe's writing, from the way he builds characters to his dialogue, humour, and sense of action. Joe is great at everything he does, but the most important thing for me is that his stories matter, touching upon themes that are always relevant."
We know that Larraz isn’t going to be the only excited one! Now here’s that preview!
Amazing Spider-Man #1 will be available at your local comic shop on 9th April. Pre-order now!
